This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and safety-focused Science Laboratory Technician to support the delivery of engaging Science programs for Year 9 students undertaking a residential learning experience at our Alpine Campus. About the Role You will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of practical Science education by preparing resources, maintaining laboratory facilities and equipment, and ensuring all activities meet safety and compliance requirements. Working closely with teaching staff, you will help create meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that spark curiosity and discovery for students. What You Will Be Doing Preparing equipment, materials and resources for practical Science classes and investigations. Preparing chemical solutions, trialing experiments and supporting practical learning activities. Maintaining laboratory equipment, inventories, chemical registers and storage systems. Reviewing and supporting risk assessments for practical activities. Ensuring laboratories, preparation areas and storerooms operate safely and efficiently. Supporting the use of technology and digital resources within the Science Faculty. Assisting with excursions, special projects and faculty initiatives as required. Coordinating servicing, repairs and maintenance of laboratory equipment. What We Are Looking For Experience working in a Science laboratory in an educational setting or similar. Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures, chemical handling and compliance requirements. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records. A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively with teaching staff and students. Sound technology skills and confidence supporting ICT within a learning environment. An understanding of, or willingness to develop knowledge of, the Australian Curriculum, VCE and IB Science programs. Current First Aid and CPR qualifications, or a willingness to obtain. About us Geelong Grammar School is one of the world’s leading co-educational boarding and day schools.
