Timbertop is Geelong Grammar School’s Year 9 full boarding campus, located in Victoria’s high country near Mansfield, which offers a full academic and outdoor education programme designed to take advantage of the magnificent environment.
Our teaching staff live on campus with approximately 245 students in a supportive residential community. Our staff have a significant role in enhancing the resiliency and wellbeing of students through the delivery of Positive Education, based on the principles of Positive Psychology.
Our Psychologist/Counsellor provides on-site counselling to students and liaises with parents/guardians and a range of staff (including Geelong Grammar School staff, General Practitioners, Psychologists and Nurses) to facilitate and coordinate student access to treatment as required.
This is a wonderful opportunity for a registered psychologist or qualified counsellor with specialist knowledge of youth mental health support the needs of young people in the Geelong Grammar School environment. This role is to commence in Term 3 2025.
This position is offered on a part-time two days, on an ongoing basis, working during term time only.
About the role:
The School Psychologist is responsible for the following tasks:
· Providing individual counselling interventions to students in Year 9
· Contacting parents around concerns for their child’s wellbeing
· Liaising and collaborating with other multidisciplinary staff
· Maintaining adequate professional records of clinical practice
· Actively participate in meetings focusing on student management
· Maintaining appropriate confidentiality
· Ensuring ongoing professional development and continuous
improvement
· Demonstrating a high regard for students and their family
About you:
To be successful in this role you will need:
· Advanced skills in counselling interventions for adolescents
· Knowledge of adolescent development and mental health
· Relevant tertiary qualifications
· Current Driver License
· Must have a Working with Children Check (Employee)
· Registration as a psychologist with AHPRA or
registration with a professional mental health body such as ACA or
AASW
