Timbertop is Geelong Grammar School’s Year 9 full-boarding campus, situated in Victoria’s high country near Mansfield. It offers a comprehensive academic and outdoor education program, designed to take full advantage of the magnificent natural environment to provide a life-changing experience for students. We are currently seeking a full-time Teacher of Outdoor Education and/or an Outdoor Education Instructor to commence in Term 2 or Term 3, 2025.
About the role:
The key responsibilities of the Outdoor Education Instructor include;
Planning and implementing outdoor-related activities
Communicating with the Director of Outdoor Education about any problems or issues as they arise and provide reports where required
Assisting in planning for the safety and welfare of all students and staff whilst involved in all outdoor activities – overnight, day trips or multiple day trips
Coordination of all logistics associated with the programming, planning and running of outdoor activities
Teaching Outdoor Education classes
About you:
The successful candidate must have:
VIT registration and previous teaching experience. Alternatively, consideration may be given to appointing an Outdoor Education Instructor with significant experience in a similar role
A degree or recognised equivalent qualification in the field of Outdoor Education/Instruction
An ability to participate in the Timbertop Outdoor Education, running, wellbeing and pastoral programmes
A high level of physical fitness
Extensive experience in the specific fields of bushwalking, ideally in the North-East Alpine Region
Experience co-ordinating programmes along with leading teenagers in the outdoors
Experience in a Boarding School environment
